Results of the Illuminate Illustrator Contest
We have received 40 strong applications from Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv, Kamianets-Podilskyi, and Kharkiv.


When selecting participants, the jury took into account the work experience in the sphere of book illustrating and the potential to represent its most current trends abroad.

The following illustrators will travel to the Livre Paris 2020 Book Salon on the 20th - 23rd of March to introduce themselves to the representatives of foreign publishing houses, present their works, visit institutions and galleries that cooperate with book illustrators:

Kateryna Didyk (Kyiv) / see the illustrator’s works here
The illustrator works in traditional techniques, as well as digital illustration, and is also engaged in experimental animation.

Polina Doroshenko (Kyiv) / see the illustrator’s works here
The Forest Song book with illustrations by Polina is included in The White Ravens, the international catalogue of the best children's books. Besides being an illustrator, she is also a teacher at the Graphic Arts Department of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture.

Oksana Drachkovska (Lviv) / see the illustrator’s works here
As a scholarship holder of the National Programme of the Slovak Republic (SAIA) and the programme of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland "Gaude Polonia", Oksana cooperated with the following publishing houses: The Old Lion Publishing House, Nash Format (Our Format), Ranok (Morning), Crocus, Chorni Vivtsi (Black Sheep), KSD (Family Leisure Club), Lilea (Lily), Bukrek.

Tetyana Zagachevska (Lviv) / see the illustrator’s works here
An illustrator and graphic designer, Tatiana is a teacher at the Department of Graphic Design at the Lviv National Academy of Arts.

Romana Ruban (Kyiv) / see the illustrator’s works here
An illustrator, a layout designer, a graphic designer, Romana not only works on commercial illustration but also has her personal projects as an artist, in the realm of contemporary samizdat (self-published books): limited editions of zines and art-books.


Congratulations to the winners!
Illuminate is the professional trip of five Ukrainian illustrators to the Livre Paris in Paris, France from 20th to 23rd of March, 2020.

Livre Paris is the most famous and largest event of the French literary scene. More than 100,000 people visit it every year, of which about 30,000 belong to the professional audience. The Livre Paris Book Salon is a platform for professional communication and a venue for more than 800 events. It will be held for the 33rd time in 2020.
