Ukraine and Austria started the Bilateral Cultural Year
CFP: International Conference, Vienna, 4-7 December 2019
The Institute for Human Sciences (Vienna), Center for Urban History of East- Central Europe (Lviv), and Ukrainian Institute (Kyiv) invite paper proposals for a conference to be held in Vienna on 4-7 December 2019.
This multidisciplinary conference seeks to reexamine the modern history of the space broadly bounded today by Ukraine and Austria, through the lens of circulation and motion. It considers people who moved within, out of, and into the region, interrogating the forces that drove them and the consequences of their movement; examines the flow of ideas that were articulated, set in motion, and resonated in lived experience; and asks how the circulation of material objects, goods, and resources impacted societies and the environment, shaping the relations and hierarchies between places and people.
We invite researchers to submit their paper proposals to by 5 August 2019. Please see more details here.

The conference is one of the events of the bilateral Cultural Year Austria-Ukraine 2019 and is organized in cooperation with the Jerzy Giedroyc Centre for Polish and European Studies at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (Kyiv) and the Department of History of Central European University (Budapest).

The academic program of the conference will be accompanied by evening public events; the program for these will be announced in September.
