The musicians selected to participate in the showcase will be able to present their work to professional audiences and key international agents, as well as receive institutional support in establishing contacts with the international music community.
Showcases are an important part of the ecosystem in the music industry and a meeting place for professionals, including influential booking agents, music festival programme managers, owners of music periodicals, record label executives looking for new names and promising music projects.
The musicians representing Ukraine will be chosen by the partnering festival’ managers together with the Ukrainian Institute. Depending on the format and programme of the festival, the participants will be selected via open call or from the list of Music Catalogue complied by the Ukrainian Institute.
In 2021, the Extra Sound programme is organised in partnership with the House of Europe — an EU-funded programme fostering professional and creative exchange between Ukrainians and their colleagues in EU countries and the United Kingdom.
In 2021 Ukrainian musicians will take part in four European showcase festivals within the EXTRA SOUND programme.

Reeperbahn Festival is Germany’s largest music platforms for the music and digital industry. The Festival combines a diverse line-up of new, international talents with a programme comprising of a wide range of themes in a progressive music marketplace. The Reeperbahn Festival Conference offers industry professionals a programme that includes sessions, networking events, meetings, showcases, and awards shows.
In 2021, Ukraine will be presented at the festival for the first time. The participants will be selected via open call available from 19 March to 20 April.
A partner of the showcase is Music Export Ukraine.
Ukrainian artists and bands as well as their representatives can apply.
- Ukrainian citizenship and permanent residence in Ukraine
- Minimum age 18
- Fluency in English (min. B2 level)
- Willingness for public communication
- Proven professional experience
- The applicant’s activities and position must not contradict the principles and values of the UI.
Professional requirements (at least one must be met):
- A concert abroad for the last 3 years
- Contract with foreign or Ukrainian music label (effective or in the past)
- 2 publications in foreign media for the last 2 years
- professional team in Ukraine (manager, agent, booking manager)
- international contacts
The applicants are required to provide a certificate of no relations with Russian Federation as an Aggressor State. The certificate must be signed by the applying representative as well as all members of the music band. Please, add the link to the scanned certificate in the application form.
