Colori Spenti. An exhibition of projected works by Ukrainian artists will be held in Italy in November
Ukrainian Institute is holding an exhibition of projections of works made by Ukrainian artists in Italy for the first time. The project Colori Spenti (Faded Colours) will tell the stories of artists whose lives and work have been intertwined with the tragic events of Russian aggression in Ukraine – from the occupation of Bucha to the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station.
Exhibition date: November 18-28, 2024
Exhibition venue: Centro Brera Gallery in Milan, Italy. Via Marco Formentini 10, Milano
About the Campaign
From 18 to 28 November, the Centro Brera Gallery in Milan will host an exhibition of projections of artworks by three Ukrainian artists: Lubov Panchenko, Polina Raiko and Zhanna Kadyrova. These women are united not only by their talent, but also by a deep connection to nature and the cultural heritage of Ukraine. Polina Raiko turned her house into a unique art space, which was destroyed by the flood after the dam was blown up. Lubov Panchenko, whose work is inspired by Ukrainian traditional culture, did not survive the occupation of Bucha. Zhanna Kadyrova speaks about today’s war with her works, turning symbols of destruction into powerful artistic statements.
The exhibition will become a place of dialogue about the vulnerability of culture and nature in the face of war. For the Italian public, it is an opportunity to see the Ukrainian perspective on the environmental crisis caused by the war.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a communication campaign and a public programme.
On 20 November, there will be a discussion on Ukraine’s cultural and environmental losses from the Russian war
