Ukrainian stand at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival

A Ukrainian stand was presented at the Mifa Market film market operating as part of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival (France, June 10-15, 2019).

Thanks to the synergy of the efforts of the Ukrainian Animation Association UANIMA, the State Agency for Cinema, the Ukrainian Institute and the Embassy of Ukraine in France, this year’s Ukrainian stand is a presentation of about 30 animated films, as well as projects for series and films yet to be produced. The Ukrainian delegation presented a catalogue of various animation products from 2019-2020.

“Thanks to the positive development dynamics in the recent years, Ukrainian animation today needs more decent promotion and support than ever. We have become competitive, Europe is talking about us, we get to the main competition of the most famous animation festival in the world – the number of reasons keeps increasing!

This is extremely important for the development of all Ukrainian culture, because thanks to the animation we will not only be able to create vivid and recognizable images for the whole world but also educate our future generations on their basis – something one shouldn’t forget about,” said Olena Golubeva, the executive director of the NGO “Ukrainian Animation Association”.

For the first time, the main festival programme featured a Ukrainian animated short film, Mykyta Lyskov’s “Love”.

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival (Festival International du Film d’Animation d’Annecy) is one of the world’s most famous rendezvous points for makers of animated films, celebrating its 60th anniversary next year.
