Yuliia Iliukha participated in the ‘Time of the Writer’ literary festival in the Republic of South Africa
From 18 to 23 March, South Africa hosted the international literary festival ‘Time of the Writer’, bringing together writers, poets, journalists, and critics from around the world. This festival creates a space for creative exchange, discussion of topical issues in literature, its impact on society, and development of writing skills.
On 22 March, Yuliia Iliukha took part in two festival events:
- Panel discussion ‘Writing Women: Intimate Narratives and Misogyny’
The panelists explored the issues of misogyny and intimate narratives in literature, in particular, focusing on the works of writers Zukiswa Wanner, Busisekile Khumalo, and Yuliia Iliukha. The discussion was moderated by literary curator Lorraine Sithole.
- Writing workshop at Malvern Children’s Home
As part of the festival’s offsite session, Yuliia Iliukha, together with writers Taya Marie Bitement and Busisekile Khumalo, held a workshop for children. Approximately 30 participants had the opportunity to learn the basics of writing, discover their own creative potential, and communicate with the authors.
The ‘Time of the Writer’ festival has once again confirmed its role as an important platform for intercultural dialogue and support for the writing community.
