Ukrainian Project at the 2025 Cannes Docs
The Ukrainian Institute, together with the Marché du Film and in partnership with the French Institute, has announced the winners of the open call for Cannes Docs 2025.
The project ‘Ashes Settling in Layers on the Surface’ by Zoya Laktionova, produced by Natalia Libet and co-produced by Victor Ede, has been selected for the Spotlighted Projects section.
The diaries, recovered from the wreckage of the war, tell the tragic stories of three generations of Ukrainian families in Mariupol, including the director’s family. The project team will receive accreditation to the Cannes Film Market (Marché du Film), priority access to the entire Cannes Docs networking programme and workshops, participation in an exclusive pitching session with other Spotlighted Projects participants, a one-year subscription to the online platform Cinando, as well as promotion on the official website and social media of Cannes Docs.
CannesDocs – Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes will take place this year from 15 to 20 May.
