Jornadas de Cultura Ucraniana in Buenos Aires
From September 19–23, 2025, the Ukrainian Institute carried out a program of events in Buenos Aires, Argentina, aimed at strengthening cultural ties, fostering artistic exchange and expanding the representation of Ukraine in Latin America. The visit formed part of the Institute’s strategy to deepen cooperation with key cultural partners of the region.
On September 23, two public events took place featuring Alim Aliev, Deputy Director General of the Ukrainian Institute.
At 13:00, a lecture entitled “Crimea: Keys to Understanding Ukraine” was hosted by the Argentine Council for International Relations (CARI), exploring the place of Crimea in Ukraine’s history and how the country can be understood through the peninsula’s diverse experiences.
Later the same day, at 19:00, AUC Prosvita hosted the presentation of the Spanish-language version of the online course “Ukraine: History, Culture and Identities”. The event highlighted the role of history and culture in understanding Ukraine today and marked the official introduction of the course in Argentina.
Beyond the public events, the visit included a concert of DakhaBrakha with Chango Spasiuk and a series of institutional meetings. The Ukrainian Institute team met with the Embassy of Ukraine in Argentina to thank Ambassador Yurii Klymenko for the support and to discuss future initiatives; with the Association of Argentine-Ukrainian University Graduates to plan Ukraine’s presence at the Feria Internacional del Libro (FIL) 2026; with Débora Rajtman, Director General of Festivals at the Ministry of Culture of Buenos Aires, to explore possible collaborations in international cultural events; and with representatives of UCEMA University, including Constanza Mazzina and María Florencia Scholand, to discuss the possibility of Ukrainian Studies and academic integration of the online course “Ukraine: History, Culture and Identities”.
The program was carried out by Alim Aliev, Deputy Director of the Ukrainian Institute, and Nadiya Veselukha, Program Manager for projects in Argentina and Mexico, with the support of CARI, AUC Prosvita, the Embassy of Ukraine in Argentina and the Transatlantic Dialogue Center (TDC).
