Music as a Language that Connects Cultures: Austrian–Ukrainian Project in India

As part of the collaboration between the Ukrainian Institute, the Austrian Cultural Forum, and the Embassy of Ukraine in India, a series of concerts featured renowned Ukrainian pianist Dr. Taras Filenko.

The first performance took place on 26 December at the Austrian Ambassador’s residence in New Delhi, followed by a concert on 28 December at Piano Man, Gurgaon, with the series concluding on 5 January at Eldeco. The Austrian–Ukrainian project also included Michaela Rabitsch and Robert Pawlik Trio.

The concerts combined classical jazz styles – Swing, Blues, Hardbop, and Modern Jazz – with Ukrainian musical traditions and rhythms from India, Africa, the Balkans, and Latin America.

The project demonstrated successful collaboration between the Ukrainian Institute, the Austrian Cultural Forum, and the Embassy of Ukraine in India, realised through a series of performances by Ukrainian musician Dr. Taras Filenko and the Austrian ensemble.
