Myroslav Laiuk took part in the Aké Arts & Book Festival in Nigeria

On November 22, 2025, as part of the Aké Arts & Book Festival in Lagos, Nigeria — one of the most important literary and artistic events in Africa — a public discussion titled “Mainstream Media and the Loss of Trust” took place with the participation of Ukrainian writer and essayist Myroslav Laiuk.

The discussion was moderated by journalist and media researcher Fatima Zahra. The panel also featured Nigerian journalist and writer Tolu Ogunlesi and French writer and documentary author Colombe Schneck. The participants addressed the growing crisis of trust in traditional media, the spread of disinformation, political influence, decolonial practices in the information space, and the role of documentary literature in interpreting contemporary realities.

This participation marks an important step in strengthening cultural dialogue between Ukraine and African countries, expanding the global presence of Ukrainian literature, and building new partnerships in the cultural sphere. The event became the first public activity of the Ukrainian Institute in Nigeria and opened opportunities for further collaboration with local cultural and media communities.
