Reading of modern Polish dramas translated into Ukrainian. Polish Film: A2 Level  

Ukrainian artists living in Poland will read modern Polish dramas translated into Ukrainian. This is a performative presentation of new unpublished Polish dramatic texts.

The premiere of the reading will take place on October 31, 2022, at the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute in Warsaw. Entry is free.    

The Ukrainian and Polish flagship cultural sector organizations’ joint project seeks to acquaint the Ukrainian professional theatre community with the possibilities of new Polish drama. As well as promote dialogue between the Ukrainian and Polish cultural contexts, the Ukrainian word, and Polish content.  

The stage composition used the following plays: The Gorgon Case (Sprawa Gorgonowej) by Yolanta Janichak translated by Chrystyna Czuszak, Teacher (Nauczycielka) by Agnieszka Harkot translated by Olesia KamysznikowaCinderella (Popeluszko) by Małgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk translated by Liuba Ilnycka 

The script was prepared by Lena Leguszonkowa.  

The director of the reading is Roza Sarkisian. Video editing by Magda Mosiewicz. Actresses: Oksana Cherkashyna, Valeria Kosmidis, Oleksandra Malatskovska, Lilia Kryvets.   

Shortly, an anthology will be published, including Teacher (Nauczycielka) by Agnieszka Harkot, The Gorgon Case (Sprawa Gorgonowej) by Yolanta Janichak, Cinderella (Popeluszko) by Małgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk, Reykjavik ’74 by Marta Sakolowska, Debil by Malina Prześluga and others.   

The translations of the texts were created with the support of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute as part of the Polish Plays program.
