Study Visit to India: Ukrainian Institute Expands Cultural Cooperation
In May 2025, a study visit of the Ukrainian Institute delegation to the Republic of India took place. Director General Volodymyr Sheiko and Programme Manager for Asia and Brazil Olena Tymoshenko held a series of meetings with leading cultural institutions, diplomatic partners, and government bodies in New Delhi and Mumbai.
Building Partnerships in New Delhi
The visit to the Indian capital began with important diplomatic meetings. The Ukrainian Institute delegation met with representatives of the Ministry of External Affairs of India and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). The discussions focused on the implementation of a new bilateral cultural cooperation programme for 2024–2028, as well as on opportunities for artist visits, joint art projects, and institutional exchanges.
While in New Delhi, the delegation also visited:
- Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts
- India Habitat Centre
- National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA Delhi)
- Kiran Nadar Museum of Art
Opportunities for cooperation were also explored with several cultural and festival platforms, including:
- St+art India Foundation
- Serendipity Arts Foundation
- Teamwork Arts
- National School of Drama
- Polish Institute in New Delhi
- Italian Cultural Institute
The visit outlined new prospects in the fields of contemporary art, theatre, literature, cultural heritage, and interregional exchange.
New Horizons in Mumbai
In Mumbai, the Ukrainian Institute delegation met with key cultural institutions of the city, including:
- National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA)
- Symphony Orchestra of India (SOI)
- NFDC – National Film Development Corporation
- Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC)
- National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA Mumbai)
- Italian Cultural Centre (EUNIC Cluster India)
The discussions focused on cooperation in classical music, performing arts, cinema, and contemporary visual art, as well as the potential participation of Ukrainian artists in India’s major cultural events.
