The Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival took place from April 15 to 26
The festival celebrated its 27th edition, presenting over 300 movies from 50+ countries. A record number – of 4,637 movies were submitted this year for participation, about 3,600 of them international productions. Among them, a few Ukrainian movies were selected to the festival’s programme: Militantropos (Yelizaveta Smith, Alina Gorlova, Simon Mozgovyi), Easter Day (Mykola Zasieiev) which participated in festival’s International Official Competition, and To the Victory! (Valentyn Vasyanovych). Also screened at the festival was Notes of a True Criminal (Alexander Rodnyansky, Andriy Alferov).
Besides the movie screenings of these Ukrainian films, the festival had also invited to its jury team a Ukrainian filmmaker, screenwriter, film editor, producer and actor Simon Mozgovyi – one of the directors of Militantropos. Simon formed a part of the Vanguardia y Género (Vanguard and Gender) jury team. Simon Mozgovyi’s active participation and presence for the whole duration of the festival contributed to strengthening of the intercultural dialogue with Argentina, networking opportunities and exchange with representatives of the region’s film industry.
Participation of Simon Mozgovyi at BAFICI is organized by the Ukrainian Institute, with the support of the Embassy of Austria in Buenos Aires and the Embassy of Ukraine in Argentina.
