Olia Fedorova works in the field of conceptual art using text and textiles, as well as photography and video. She is a laureate of the Non Stop Media VIII Contemporary Art Festival, the Nathan Altman Contemporary Art Competition (Vinnytsia), a finalist of the MUHI 2017 Young Artists Competition and the Second Biennale of Young Art of Ukraine.   

The artist has held solo exhibitions in Kharkiv, Kyiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Torino (Italy), Graz (Austria), and Warsaw (Poland). Since the summer of 2022, he has been temporarily living and practicing in Graz, Austria. 

The residency aims to foster dialogue and collaboration between South African and Ukrainian artists, exploring the theme of human impact on the environment. 

The residency provides for the possibility of producing a collaborative work. 

Artists are invited to immerse themselves in joint reflections on the topic of Water and Soil. Following the residency, the project can be submitted for participation in the international exhibition of the same name, which will open in autumn 2025 at NIROX. 

The Ukrainian Institute and the NIROX Foundation also signed a memorandum of cooperation until 2030. The partnership envisages the implementation of cultural exchanges, artistic residencies and projects, and will also help to increase the visibility of Ukrainian culture in South Africa.
