Ukrainian Institute presented Ukrainian programme at the 49th Buenos Aires International Book Fair (Feria Internacional del Libro de Buenos Aires). The programme featured events with leading Ukrainian artists and authors, including writer Yurii Andrukhovych and illustrators Romana Romanyshyn and Andriy Lesiv (Art Studio AGRAFKA).

Yurii Andrukhovych participated in the 18th International Poetry Festival, where he read his poetry in Ukrainian, alongside Spanish-language translations.

Yurii Andrukhovych also took part in a public conversation with Argentinian journalist and editor Eduardo Slusarzchuk and joined a panel discussion on the theme ‘Language as a Tool of Resistance’ with Argentinian writer María Rosa Lojo. The discussion was moderated by Maxi Legnani.

Ukrainian illustrators Romana Romanyshyn and Andriy Lesiv conducted a workshop for children and parents, which attracted strong interest from participants.
They also took part in a public talk, “Illustration as a Reflection of Culture: Focus on Ukraine,” where the artists shared their experiences and emphasized the role of visual art in shaping and presenting national identity.

The design of the Ukrainian stand was also developed in cooperation with the Ukrainian Institute. In addition, visitors had the opportunity to explore books by Yurii Andrukhovych, publications by Agrafka Studio, as well as our educational courses.

We are grateful to the Embajada de Ucrania en la República Argentina for their support of Ukrainian culture on the international stage.
