The current representatives from Ukraine will go to the festival thanks to a fundraising campaign organized by the Waves Vienna team. Through the efforts of our partners and everyone who cares, we were able to raise 15,000 euros, which completely covers all the expenses of the Ukrainian musicians.

In 2022, during the war, we will intensify our partnership with greater force so that the Ukrainian voice does not cease to be heard at international events. We are grateful that the Waves Vienna Festival during the war in Ukraine supports the way true friends act, as the festival has become for Ukrainians over the years of our cooperation. ” – adds Svitlana Lenchenko, Head of Music Programme.  

The performance of bands and/or performers from Ukraine will be the fourth for our country in the twelve-year history of the festival. Ukrainian music in Vienna has already been represented by Alyona, Gurt O, Dakh Daughters and others. In 2022, Ukraine’s participation at Waves Vienna, a showcase music festival and conference, will be in partnership with Music Export Ukraine. 

Waves Vienna is an annual international festival of popular music that gathers more than 10,000 visitors, including key industry delegates and influential agents in the music sector. About 100 artists from many countries will perform at the festival for three days. 

Musicians and managers, representatives of music groups with Ukrainian citizenship can participate. To participate in the competitive selection it is necessary to fill in the application. Read more.

Applications for technical and qualification criteria will be submitted by the team of the Ukrainian Institute and Music Export Ukraine, then the applications will be evaluated by the Waves Vienna program team. The public announcement of the results will take place on the official website of the Ukrainian Institute no later than July 15, 2022.
