The Zoöp Connections programme focuses on rethinking the relationship between humans and the environment. At its core is the concept of Zoöp — a model of organisation and collaboration that integrates the interests of both human and non-human life into decision-making processes and creative practice.  

The residency invites participants to engage with themes such as ecological thinking, multispecies interactions, regenerative approaches, and the role of art in shaping new relationships with the environment. Participants will explore these topics through experimentation, artistic practice, and knowledge exchange within an international context.  

The residency takes place across two interconnected locations in Amsterdam: 
Mediamatic — a centre for cross-disciplinary research and experimental (bio)art, 
and De Ceuvel — a sustainable creative incubator and circular community space.  

The residency includes: 
— period: 24 September – 23 October 2026 
— accommodation, workspace, and lunch at Mediamatic 
— access to labs, archives, and the De Ceuvel community 
— mentorship, including guidance from the “Speaker for the Living” 
— artist fee and a material/production budget 
— opportunity to develop and publicly present the final work (exhibition, performance, workshop, etc.)  

Who can apply: 
Visual artists, researchers, writers, and designers currently residing in Ukraine, at any stage of their career. A strong interest in the intersection of art, nature, and experimental practice is essential.  

Application requirements: 
Applications must be submitted in English and should include: CV, portfolio (with descriptions), a short motivation, including a brief project proposal. More details and application guidelines.
