Performances of Ukrainian Theatres at the International Sirenos Festival
On 5–6 and 10–11 October 2024, in Vilnius, as part of the international Sirenos Festival, the Ukrainian Institute presented two groundbreaking documentary performances:
- City of Mary: The Siege Diaries by the independent art collective Vidlik Projects
- Nobody Died Today by the Kharkiv theatre Nafta
Both projects offer a powerful reflection on the experiences of Ukrainians living through the full-scale war.
About the Festival
The Sirenos Festival is an annual international theatre event held in early autumn in Vilnius. Over the years, it has introduced the Lithuanian audience to some of the most influential European theatre artists, showcasing relevant and innovative art projects.
City of Mary: The Siege Diaries

This documentary musical performance tells the story of twin sisters Anna and Anastasia Grechkin, who witnessed the horrors of the siege of Mariupol during the Russian invasion. The performance combines diary entries, music, and visual imagery, creating a complex and emotional experience.

Nobody Died Today

This performance delves into the inner worlds of Ukrainian soldiers, volunteers, and artists. It explores their transformations, the reassessment of values, their perception of time and space, and their sense of belonging to a shared history and common events.
