Ukraine at the Nederlandse Dansdagen Dance Festival

Ukraine was first represented at the Nederlandse Dansdagen in the Netherlands, one of the most prestigious international festivals for dance performances.

About the Event

In partnership with the Ukrainian Institute, on 5 October, renowned Nederlandse Dansdagen festival hosted a screening of the dance performance Every Minute Motherland (choreographer: Maciej Kuzmiński, co-producer: Polina Bulat).

Every Minute Motherland is a documentary dance performance created by Polish choreographer Maciej Kuzmiński in response to the Russian aggression in Ukraine and the ensuing refugee crisis. The idea for the performance originated after Kuzmiński held charity masterclasses for Ukrainian dancers in Warsaw in May 2022. Three dancers from Ukraine, who participated in these masterclasses, along with one additional dancer who joined later, contributed to the creation of the performance. Their personal experiences, conveyed through movement, became central to the choreography of Every Minute Motherland. Since its premiere in 2022, the performance has been shown over twenty times across various European countries, receiving rave reviews from both general and professional audiences.

The day before, excerpts from Every Minute Motherland were shown to the audience during the festival’s annual Gala Evening.
