Ukrainian programme at the Festival d’Avignon 2024

На одному з найстаріших театральних фестивалів – The Festival d’AvignonУкраїнський інститут та La Manufacture вдруге представлять широку українську програму – Pavilion of the Future, Ukraine 2024 : With Beating Hearts.

Programme

На фестивалі, що триває з 4 по 22 липня у французькому Авіньйоні, покажуть театральну виставу «Калігула», документальну виставу «Місто Марії: щоденники облоги», фільм «20 днів у Маріуполі», фотовиставку From Inside, а також проведуть серію дискусій про стійкість та відбудову. 

«Мета нашої програми – дати можливість українським сучасним митцям зміцнювати суб’єктність України, мати свої голоси на найбільшому театральному форумі світу. Протягом наступних років ми прагнемо потрапити в основну програму фестивалю, а поки працюємо над сталою присутністю в альтернативній – Festival Off Avignon. Цьогоріч, щоб привернути увагу до найболючішого, покажемо два проєкти про тимчасово окупований Маріуполь»,

The performance Caligula

The performance Caligula by Camus by the National Drama Theatre of Kyiv, directed by Ivan Uryvskyi.

Performance Misto Marii: The Siege Diaries

A documentary performance Misto Marii: The Siege Diaries by Yevhenia Vidishcheva and Vidlik Projects. 

A documentary performance based on diary entries and fragments of interviews with two sisters from Mariupol. Through the sisters’s words, performers, along with musicians and VJ, create a multi-disciplinary documentary musical performance, grappling with the collective trauma of war.

The From Inside exhibition

The From Inside exhibition project presents the work of four Ukrainian photographers – Alexander ChekmenevPavlo DorohoiIgor Efimov and Daria Svertilova who address the deep experiences and personal stories of Ukrainians during the war. 

To be discovered at Petit Paradis, Hôtel de Ville d’Avignon and the Manufacture garden. Free admission. 
The exhibitions are organized in partnership with La Manufacture, Petit Paradis, Odesa Photo Days, Hangar-Brussels, Hôtel de ville d’Avignon.

An adaptation of Olga and Sasha’s War Diary

An adaptation of Olga and Sasha’s War Diary by Grégoire Biseau and Marcel Bozonet. The play is based on the correspondence of two Ukrainian sisters who are living the same war at a distance. The first lives in the Paris suburbs, the second in Kyiv. The Ukrainian text will be performed to the music of Jérôme Castel, as well as singer and poet Kateryna Voloshyna.
