Ukrainian Programme at Marché du Film

At the Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film, Ukraine will be represented through a series of events organised by the Ukrainian Institute in collaboration with its partners.

Thus, the Ukrainian Institute for the fourth time became a presentation partner of the Producers Network professional programme, where five emerging Ukrainian female producers will participate:

  • Oleksandra Kostina (Bosonfilm)
  • Regina Maryanovska Davidzon (Real Pictures)
  • Olena Morentsova – Shulyk (Ganzafilm Production)
  • Veronika Stepanchuk (Balcony 48)
  • Daria Zakharova (Tabor)

The selected participants will receive the opportunity to participate in all events within the Producers Network programme, including morning roundtable discussions with international film experts (Breakfast meetings), and will also be presented to the professional community in all communication materials of the film market as part of the Producers under the Spotlight focus.

Within the Marché du Film documentary section Cannes Docs, the ARTE collection – Generation Ukraine will be presented – 12 documentaries about the impact and consequences of the Russian invasion, filmed by Ukrainian directors and produced jointly with the Franco-German ARTE platform. This marks the collection’s first public presentation in France.

During Cannes Docs, screenings will include Roman Blazhan’s The Basement, Oksana Karpovych’s Intercepted, and Svitlana Lishchynska’s A Bit of a Stranger, along with selected scenes from other films in the collection. The project is implemented in cooperation with the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Goethe Institute, the Ukrainian Institute and European partners.

Additionally, the film market will feature a panel discussion on distribution to the Ukrainian market titled “Ukraine in focus: Enhancing international coproductions.” This event is organised by the Ukrainian Institute in collaboration with Arthouse Traffic, supported by the British Film Institute. Participants will include representatives from Ukrainian distribution companies Green Light, Arthouse Traffic, and cinemas like Planeta Kino and Multiplex, as well as sales agents from the UK and representatives of distribution companies from the Baltic countries.

This year’s Marché du Film will take place from May 14-22.
