The audience reaction was extremely emotional – listeners applauded for a long time and often during the reading itself, in particular after the lines about a language that was banned and destroyed. After the event, people approached personally to share their feedback, and immediately after the performance Yulia Musakovska signed books. During this meeting, a proposal was made to translate her poetry into Marathi, and a selection is already in process of translation to Bengali. Translations into Hindi are also planned.

A separate event was a panel discussion featuring Yulia Musakovska and Austrian writer Andreas Unterweger, moderated by Asad Lalljee, producer and curator of the Royal Opera House in Mumbai. The conversation touched on poetry as a way of understanding human relationships, solidarity and unity, the transformation of the language of Ukrainian poetry after 2022, the fragility of the world, the search for strength and light, as well as the motivation to translate authors who have joined the defence forces. One of the international participants called this discussion the best he had heard on the topic.

According to Yulia Musakovska, the opportunity to represent Ukraine and speak about our reality at one of the world’s largest literary festivals is of special importance, as Ukrainian voices still rarely reach such platforms.
