The EXTER international residency programme has been postponed to 2021
Until the last moment, the Ukrainian Institute tried to keep the EXTER residency programme this year, but force majeure circumstances and the need to prioritise projects in a crisis forced us to cancel the programme this year.
There were several reasons for this:
Unfortunately, the Ukrainian Institute is not able to further plan this year's programme, not having confidence that EXTER residents will be able to get to the residences safely and fully work there.
All applications submitted this year are retained. When a new competition is announced next year, all this year's applicants will be asked to simply confirm that their application is relevant or update it if necessary.

There were several reasons for this:
- It is still impossible to predict anything because of the COVID-19 pandemic. There is no reliable way to predict developments even for the month ahead.
- Citizens of Ukraine may not be admitted to the EU or may require a 14-day quarantine, which nullifies the goals of EXTER residences.
- There is a possibility of extending quarantine in the countries of residence.
- There may be additional costs for residents that the Ukrainian Institute will not be able to provide (tests, health insurance, masks, etc.).
