The Ukrainian Institute Award at the Odesa International Film Festival
About the project
In 2019, the Ukrainian Institute together with the Odesa International Film Festival launched an annual award within the competitive presentation of projects at the final stages of production process Work in Progress. The film project with the greatest potential for successful festivals and theatrical distribution abroad will receive UAH 150,000 (~ EUR 5000) for international promotion according to the decision of the international jury.
What types of promotion is the Ukrainian Institute Award designed for:
→ PR-services (definition of target audiences, development of film positioning strategy with a focus on the target audience, communication plan, definition of main messages, film positioning on the international market, creation of promotional texts, international synopsis, press release), media project pitching, interview coordination, organisation of press shows and press conferences, press clipping, an audit of PR-campaign).
→ Advertising in print and online press (banners, prerolls, site branding, etc.), on external media, radio and television.
→ Film promotion at the festival (promotion among sales agents, programmers and other stakeholders).
→ Development of a strategy for the promotion and creation of materials for social networks, management of social platforms, advertising and promotion of posts, monitoring (opinion leaders, critics, influencers).
→ Promotion of online film distribution on VOD-platforms (development of marketing strategy, targeting the target audience, creation and placement of PR and advertising materials online).
→ Design (creation of an international poster) and promotional materials (postcards, programs, invitations).
→ Layout and re-design of advertising layouts.
→ Printing (in Ukraine and abroad).
→ Logistics of promotional materials.
→ Creation of digital film package and other formats, in particular for online distribution.
→ Translation into foreign languages and creation of subtitles for video materials, in particular online distribution.
→ Creating an international teaser and/or trailer.
The Award funds must be used by December 11, 2020.
Beneficiaries of the proMOTION programme by the Ukrainian Institute for support of international film promotion are not eligible to apply for the Prize within the Work in Progress section at the OIFF.
In 2019, the Ukrainian-Swiss film “The Forgotten” (directed by Daria Onyshchenko) received the Ukrainian Institute Award.
In 2020, the film Roma directed by Olga Zhurba received the award of UAH 150,000 from the Ukrainian Institute for the promotional activities on the international market.
