Historically, Ukrainian visual art is one of the sectors most affected by the colonial policies of Russia. This is no different, today. The reappropriation of our artists is a challenging task for the cultural diplomacy of Ukraine. We have our first success - the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the USA recently recognized "Russian" Aivazovsky, Kuindzhi, and Repin under their true identities: Ukrainian artists.
