The Ukrainian Institute continues its partnership with the Eurimages Fund within the proMOTION 2024 programme

Council of Europe’s co-production fund Eurimages and the Ukrainian Institute have reached agreements to extend their partnership in 2024 as part of the proMOTION programme supporting the international promotion of Ukrainian films in 2024.

In 2023, the proMOTION programme was fully implemented in partnership with Eurimages. Throughout the year, an international commission conducted three open calls, selecting 7 film projects to receive up to 8000 euros each for promoting their films abroad.

In 2024, the fifth iteration of the proMOTION programme for systematic support of international promotion of Ukrainian cinema, developed by the Ukrainian Institute, will take place.

This year, three open calls are also planned throughout the calendar year, involving international experts in the evaluation process of film projects. In total, up to seven feature-length film projects will be supported.

The schedule for open calls will be announced later.

The proMOTION programme gives Ukrainian filmmakers an opportunity to join the world practice of film promotion, invite international experts to develop promotional campaigns and find foreign partners, thus increasing the recognition of a film project on the international market.

Eurimages is the cultural support fund of the Council of Europe, the continent’s leading human rights organisation. Established in 1988, Eurimages promotes independent filmmaking by providing financial support for the co-production of feature-length fiction, animation and documentary films as well as for the exhibition of arthouse films.

The Ukrainian Institute is a state institution that represents Ukrainian culture in the world and forms a positive image of Ukraine abroad. The Institute was founded by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in 2017 and is under the control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
