About the research
Approximately 160 experts participated in the field stage of the research. It was conducted in the form of in-depth interviews and included members of the diplomatic corps and Ukrainian diaspora organisations, representatives of cultural, scientific, and art institutions, as well as media sphere and civil society organisations in the countries studied.
The research was conducted in India, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico in order to develop an effective strategy for Ukrainian cultural diplomacy in these countries and to outline perspectives for further cooperation with Ukraine in the field of culture.
Research objectives
The main research objective is to identify and summarise data on local cultural infrastructure, socio-political, historical, and cultural contexts, matters of identity, indigenous people, other important local cultural phenomena, as well as sensitive topics and sociocultural occurrences in Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, India and Indonesia.
The data obtained will create the basis for thorough, qualitative planning of directions, projects, and working formats for the Ukrainian Institute, representatives of the cultural sphere, and the diplomatic missions of Ukraine in the mentioned countries.
